The Technical Development History of Bag Making Machines
Bag making machine, core flexible packaging equipment, has evolved four generations driven by packaging demand, servo automation and global plastic restrictions, reshaping flexible pouch making machine manufacturing for food, medical and retail industries.
The 1950s–1970s semi-mechanical era relied on separated heat sealers with no EPC deviation corrector. Early plastic bag making machine required full manual feeding and counting, only producing simple flat PE bags at under 20 pcs/min. Without constant tension control, film wrinkling and unstable sealing plagued production, marking low-efficiency primitive bag equipment.
The 1980s–1990s ushered single-function automatic bag making machine. Basic mechanical EPC and PLC control replaced pure manual operation. This stage supported vest shopping bags and 3 side seal bag machine, boosting speed to 60 pcs/min. Yet gear transmission caused length errors, and it failed to process laminated composite films, limiting flexible pouch production capacity.
2000–2015 saw the boom of full servo bag making machine, the most searched keyword for packaging buyers on Google. Multi-servo synchronous electronic shaft technology became standard, paired with touch screen HMI and independent PID sealing temperature zones. Versatile stand up pouch machine, zipper pouch maker and gusset bag units emerged, compatible with aluminum foil, paper-plastic laminates, running stably at 120–300 pcs/min. Auxiliary modules like automatic punching and waste recycling further upgraded all-in-one pouch production lines
Since 2016, eco-intelligent equipment dominates the market, with mono material bag equipment and biodegradable bag making machine topping Google search rankings. Modern vision inspection bag machine achieves online defect detection and automatic defective bag rejection; IoT remote monitoring enables real-time production data tracking. Specialized units for PLA/PBAT degradable film and recyclable single-layer PE solve heat-sealing bottlenecks of circular packaging materials.
Future bag making machine R&D centers on ultra-high-speed double-line production, full AI parameter auto-matching and zero-waste closed-loop recovery. Servo-driven intelligent pouch makers will keep leading flexible packaging machinery as global green packaging standards tighten.
